2013 Gartner Hype Cycle for App Development Report is out
Gartner just released its Application Development Hype Cycle for 2013. The Application Release Automation section of the report, written by Gartner Analysts Ronni J. Colville and Colin Fletcher, clearly states that cost and competitive pressures on IT organizations continue to increase which is driving many large enterprises to move toward automating deployment. The report projects market maturity in two to 5 years.
These findings are in line with our recent survey of Fortune 1000 IT execs who listed Continuous Delivery/ DevOps projects as their key initiative this year. View InfographicThe Gartner report also supports some of the key benefits our customers are finding when they move to automated deployment: "ARA tools yield agility, cost and risk mitigation benefits for most application types by improving the quality, by reducing human error, and velocity of releases through increased consistency and standardization."
The report goes on to explain that, "Business agility is improved by reducing the time it takes to deploy and configure applications across multiple environments, thereby speeding the business's ability to react to market changes. Cost savings are realized through significant reduction of required manual interactions by often high-skill/high-cost staff. Risk is inherently mitigated by ARA tools' documentation and standardization of processes and configurations across multiple technology domains."Get the full report (Gartner Login required)Learn more about the XebiaLabs Application Release Automation offering
