TeamForge 8.0 – Built for the Enterprise

Enterprise Agile Planning

We are very proud to announce the newest release of TeamForge – version 8.0.  About 8 months ago we decided to do something very significant with TeamForge, and we clearly understood that all wasn’t possible in one release. So we decided to introduce the 8.x series of releases. TeamForge 8.0 packs some interesting features wrapped in a modern user interface.

TeamForge 8.0 focuses on a 5 key areas –

  • User Experience and User Interface
  • Enterprise Git Management
  • Agile Planning and Tracking
  • Reporting and Analytics
  • DevOps Integrations
  • Test Management

In this release we’ve made some significant improvements to the underlying platform infrastructure and introduced few noteworthy features that our customers really wanted to have in the product. While you can find more material (link here) around features introduced in each of the above areas, we wanted to give you quick overview and the rationale for doing what we did in TeamForge 8.0.

With enterprises increasingly embracing BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), we’ve seen many of our customers use iPads at work.TeamForge 8.0 has been built to look good and work well on both laptops and tablets. The new interface design is an outcome of intense user testing and interviews, and we hope you like it.

Enterprises have an inherent need to establish governance across process and tool chains. New features in Enterprise Git Management like Quality Gates, Role-based access control across projects, help enterprises establish access and quality governance in the use of Git & Gerrit

TeamForge 8.0’s Binaries app now integrates with Nexus Binary Repository Manager. Orchestrate Pipelines in TeamForge 8.0 also supports Nexus using the new Custom Data Sources. Together with Pipelines, Binaries allow enterprises to establish tool chain governance and end-to-end traceability from requirements to deployment-ready builds.

TeamForge 8.0 furthers traceability in the context of Test Management by integrating with TestLink. This integration gives enterprises the power to extend requirements traceability by linking defects with test plans and test cases in TestLink.

Agile practices have been increasingly adopted by enterprises. With distributed teams, it’s important for these enterprises to effectively manage backlogs, releases and get the right visibility into these projects. TeamForge 8.0 introduces Project Teams in the context of backlog management, planning and tracking. Enterprises can now create Teams in TeamForge and plan and track iterations by one or more Teams.

“If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it” -Peter Drucker, Management Guru

TeamForge 8.0 introduces a new Reporting and Analytics Dashboard that will now allow enterprises to create, view and manage reports in one place. Created using wizards, these reports can be embedded in Project Pages to create dashboards for projects and teams.

TeamForge 8.0 introduces an Event Data Store that houses trend and association data across the tool chain. This helps render trend reports based on build, code review, commits, work items and custom sources (like Nexus binaries) in the Reporting Dashboard.

May be we can keep the order in alignment with your 8.0 key focus areas. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. These features have a lot more to explore. Do try TeamForge 8.0 and let us know your thoughts, feedback and comments!
