Why Your Business Needs an Enterprise App Store

App Management

While there are numerous reasons why organizations should use an enterprise app store, perhaps the most compelling is that mobile app adoption grows at unprecedented rates. A recent study conducted by Nielsen highlights the continuing rise of mobile app use across key demographics. In fact, today’s consumers spend 65% more time each month using mobile apps than they did two years ago. While 25-to-44 year olds use the greatest number of apps per month (29 apps, on average), those aged 18-to-24 spend the most time on apps (37 hours, 6 minutes per month). With the new class of Millennials expected to comprise 75% of the workforce within 10 years, it’s imperative for businesses to cater to their needs and develop a mobile-first philosophy with a focus on enterprise apps. As the world’s first truly technologically fluent generation, Millenials think and work differently than their predecessors. For instance, Millenials prefer the flexibility to work outside of the traditional 9-to-5 confines, opting to tackle work at different times – and locations – that suit them. An enterprise app store offers Millenials and other employees a wide variety of apps that can allow them to do their jobs more productively wherever and whenever they want. An enterprise app store that’s highly visible and easy to access can help employees to locate, download, and use the apps that can help them do their jobs and to better suit their work styles. At the same time, employers benefit by driving the high rates of mobile app adoption and usage that bolster productivity and strengthen operational and business performance. Moreover, organizational leaders can ensure that the security required for a truly exceptional experience is in place, as employees can only download apps that meet the company’s corporate security policies and IT can verify that all apps in the enterprise app store have been inspected and are free of spyware and other security liabilities. With an enterprise app store, decision-makers can also ensure that apps are broadly tested for usability, attractiveness, functionality, and productivity. And to make sure that these benefits are measured against business and organizational targets, business leaders can track which apps are being downloaded and used and ensure that specific apps are advertised, promoted, and made available to the right user groups.
