Why Proper Mobile App Testing is Crucial

App Management

Why Proper Mobile App Testing is Crucial “Researchers found three-quarters (77%) of mobile users are concerned about app performance before they buy and that half (51%) of app developers say they 'don't have time' to properly test apps before release,” according to Kristina Knight with Your team has spent months working on creating your latest enterprise mobile app. The company has spent a lot of money on development and now they are waiting to see the return on their investment. After development, the next step is to start mobile app testing, where people get to install and interact with preproduction apps. This is their opportunity to identify problems and provide feedback. Unfortunately, some companies, after seeing delays during the development process, will try to decrease the time spent in mobile app testing to reduce costs. Consumers are not immune when companies make the decision to decrease testing. According to, consumers worry about bugs (58%), crashes (57%), and performance (48%).

Are you using any of these excuses to cut testing?

1. They meet compliance requirements, and stop there Some companies have compliance requirements they must meet with developing new enterprise apps. Just because a company meets all of their compliance requirements, does not mean that their application is magically ready for deployment. Proper testing is still a critical part of the process. 2. Not enough time or money budgeted for app testing One of the biggest reasons companies fail to properly test their applications is that they don’t allocate enough money in the budget for proper mobile app testing. Part of successful software project management is making sure each part of the project gets the proper amount of time and resources allocated to them. 3. They don’t have a way to deploy their app preproduction Who wants to publish an app that hasn’t been fully tested to the entire world? Ideally, you want to have thousands of people testing your app, but at the same time you have to control who has access to it. You also need to make sure that when people find problems they’re properly reported and tracked. Some companies are likely to use their developers for app testing. This can be a bad idea because developers will typically only test for things that they know they have worked on or will already work. Traditionally, developers have a hard time coming up with creative ways to test the software like real users would.

Stop Making Excuses

Proper mobile app testing is crucial for your application’s success within your workforce. Once you understand the benefits of app testing (and the drawbacks of not testing), it’s much easier to convince the management team to spend the proper amount of time and money to be sure your app is ready for launch.
