In 5-10 years many organizations won't have a traditional office In 10 years or less, enterprise technology will be consumer driven

The reasons? Personal technology makes it so employees can be productive regardless of where they are located. As the number of managers against virtual workplaces continues to decrease and the number of remote workers continues to increase, the need for a traditional office diminishes. Leading the shift of enterprise technology becoming consumer driven are BYOD strategies that merge personal and enterprise data on to one device and employees who are increasingly “technologically-savvy, adaptable and innovative.”

2020 Enterprise Mobile App Market Predictions…

The story? James Bourne of EnterpriseAppsTech reported on Strategy Analytics’ recent research. Forecasting that big money is on the way, it seems as though the enterprise mobile app market is soon going to feel the shift of focus from the device to the apps that many of us have noticed.

By end of 2015 - $40.5 billionBy 2020 – $63 billion

Top enterprise app types? In terms of use -- SMS is at the top of the list and instant messaging is gaining prominence. Next up are business process apps (think sales force automation), field force automation and other CRM apps. Lastly, supply chain management and ERP apps.

Turn legacy software into modern apps…

The story? Analyst and blogger, Jack Madden, explained that organizations are struggling to modernize their Windows applications and Web apps that were built with a desktop browser in mind. Saying that “It can be prohibitively expensive and impractical to create mobile versions of these applications”, Jack offers another solution.

The answer? App refactoring.

The details? Jack explains that app refactoring solves this issue for organizations applying special remote protocols and software to the user interface of the existing applications turning them into mobile-friendly apps.
