The Future of Agile: SD Times Recap
It’s been 15 years since the Agile Manifesto was published, and Agile methodologies have proven to be an effective set of guiding principles in modern software delivery since then. But despite the successes, many are wondering: where does Agile go from here?
That’s the subject of a recent SD Times article entitled, Where does agile go from here, in which several Analysts from Gartner and Forrester, along with execs within the industry shared thoughts on the future of Agile and how we as an industry can continue to grow.
I am honored to be one of the executives interviewed, and I mentioned there are two customer trends happening to make Agile more effective.
1st Customer Trend
The emergence of more upfront business value planning—before any coding starts—in order to help guide overall project success and reduce the amount of rework and failures. By bridging the gap between developers and business decision makers, teams can work more effectively towards building software that achieves core business goals.
2nd Customer Trend
More and more organizations using collaboration tools that increase visibility across teams. These types of tools offer better communication and deeper adoption of Agile principles. By bringing Agile out of the development world, we’re going to start seeing more overarching organizational support that will lead to more successful teams.
