Scrum Alliance launches CSM exam requirement
So it’s finally official, the Scrum Alliance has formally added an “exam” requirement to the ScrumMaster Certification process.
The flow works like this:
- First you must take an accredited two-day ScrumMaster Certification course, like ours.
- Following successful completion of the course, you must take an online test administered by the Scrum Alliance.
(Edit Sept 25th: in the comments, Michael James points out):
For a period of time (the length of which is yet undetermined, but will be announced in the future), all those who take the test will be given a “passing” grade.
I’m of two minds about this. I like the idea in that the “certification” part carries more weight if there is an exam. On the other hand, I hope this doesn’t deter people from learning Scrum from an expert. There’s already so much misinformation out there, the CSM course is a strong source of knowledge from folks that actually understand and practice Scrum.
What say you?
