App Management

As the bring your own device (BYOD) movement continues to gain momentum, a growing number of company leaders are recognizing the benefits that can be gleaned by providing different employee groups with corporate mobile applications. Among the roles where decision-makers see the greatest potential for leveraging enterprise mobility for productivity gains is within the sales organization.

As Brendan Cournoyer points out in a recent blog for Brainshark, with salespeople spending so much time in the air and on the road, they are typically the most mobile operatives within a company. Other reports which demonstrate the benefits of mobile sales enablement continue to surface. For instance, Profitable Channels recently published a report on the topic where it finds that many organizations that have adopted the use of tablets and other mobile technologies are seeing top and bottom line business benefits from their investments in mobile sales enablement programs. This includes productivity and financial payback in areas such as; revenue growth, sales effectiveness, and improved customer experience.

Of course, the productivity gains and business benefits of enterprise mobility aren’t limited to sales teams. Other roles within the organization such as; field service, finance, HR, marketing, operations, and distribution can each benefit from the use of mobile devices and enterprise apps. For instance, as an Arthur D. Little whitepaper points out, due to the complexity associated with detailed construction projects, it makes sense to equip project managers, engineers, and other supervisors with mobile project management, safety, and other mobile apps that can help them ensure that they adhere to project specifications while addressing regulatory and compliance requirements.

In order to obtain the productivity and cost savings gains that can be generated by the use of enterprise mobile apps, it’s critical for decisions-makers to develop an effective enterprise mobility strategy. At Apperian, we recommend building a strategy based on the use of a mobile application management (MAM) solution that can protect the personal data and apps of employees while securing sensitive company and customer information.
