How to Save Money with Mobile Application Management (MAM™)

Mobile application management (MAM®) offers multiple benefits to organizations that are moving forward with enterprise mobility. A MAM strategy provides companies with a secure and flexible approach to managing enterprise mobile apps and data while reassuring employees that their personal content will be protected and untouched. Meanwhile, more than two-thirds of businesses have seen increases in employee productivity and customer response time by allowing employees to use their mobile devices at work, according to a study by Dell.

One of the hidden benefits of mobile application management is that it can also help enterprises save money. One of the knocks against mobile device management (MDM) are the high costs associated with using these platforms. These include the costs to enroll employees with MDM licenses along with costs of integrating MDM with existing IT infrastructures. Enterprise mobility management leaders have discovered that they’re able to reduce their MDM and infrastructure costs by distributing apps more quickly and cost-effectively using MAM.

For instance, a global diversified technology and industrial manufacturer was becoming frustrated by the time-consuming and costly process of enrolling new employees under an MDM approach to secure and protect their devices. After examining the situation more closely, company leaders realized they could reduce costs by distributing enterprise mobile apps faster to new employees and employees it had picked up through acquisitions by using MAM to secure and manage enterprise apps and data at the app level instead of having to extend its infrastructure costs.

In addition to quicker time-to-value of distributing apps to users’ devices and avoiding long MDM enrollment processes, the company has also saved money by not having to purchase additional MDM licenses and by avoiding the related support costs that would have been extended to each device. As a growing number of enterprises are seeing the wisdom of managing and securing enterprise apps and data instead of controlling employees’ personal devices, they’re also beginning to discover the productivity and business benefits of utilizing an enterprise mobility solution focused on mobile application management.
